Hey im hopefully starting at NUI this Sep and looking for accommodation but failing was hoping to just get a house instead of arsing with student accommodation as its so hard to get in but most people I know are going Cork so looks like I will be heading Galway on my own and its quiet hard getting a house on my own. Just wondering any other sound first years heading Galway in the same situation and might be interested in getting a house :)

Hey I'm gonna be a postgrad student moving to Galway and in the same situation. Looking for a house as opposed to student accommodation.

there's a facebook group called 'house hunting galway (for sound people)', this is probably your best bet for house hunting and searching for roommates as the group is very active and there are always people looking to fill rooms.

Student accomodation books out fast, but after leaving cert results are out plenty of places free up due to people not getting their course/getting a course somewhere else in country, so if you're on the waiting list you will almost certainly get a place

Major shortage of student accommodation in Galway. Get yourself on a waiting list for student accommodation, it would be very hard to get a house as a first year. Landlords are far more likely to give places to postgrads/final years.

Centre point Student accommodation is a safe bet. It's good craic but there's only twin rooms available.

Try Dunaras few of my mates had galway as their second choice and had no problem booking it in late august. If you don't know too many people going in to first year your far better living in student accom.
