toshiba smart tv sound not working

    hi,
    just trying to trouble shoot before i bring in tv to the shop.

    originally had an issue with horizon box, pink screen on tv, but got that fixed through the virgin helpdesk, but sound never worked, contacted them again and they reckon its a hdmi cable issue. ive tried a brand new one but still no sound.
    so a. could this be a tv fault?
    B. the controls(volume and on/off) on side of tv dont work
    c. the remote dosent do anything, batteries are new,
    any advice greatly apperciated
