Best Women's Bibshorts?

I need new bibshorts. I've been wearing our club shorts for the last year but I no longer find them comfortable. I guess the padding wears?? They are made by Santini but I find the stitching can be abrasive over long distances so don't think I'd go with that brand. I also wear Altura shorts and I find them only ok. I don't mind forking out for a really good comfy pair that will see me over distances of up to 200k at a time.

My OH is a big fan of Castelli ladies' kit with the X2 seatpad. She has a set of the Free Aero Race shorts and the Sorpasso tights, and has recommended the shorts in particular to several of her friends. Having used the men's equivalent pad in a set of Endurance X2 and Nanoflex Pro I'd concur that it's pretty good also. Not cheap, but still a bit lower price point than Assos (for example), and to be fair some of their women's kit tends to be discounted a bit more often than the equivalent men's, and by larger amounts.

I'm a fan of Specialized's SL Pro bib shorts - only shorts I wear now.

Thanks to both of you. I'm off to google all these options.

I got ASV DHB shorts for Christmas and I fond them excellent, they're quite flattering too I think, and the pad is great. I have mens Nailini (sp?) shorts too, pad was great but they had a honeycomb fabric over the cover which was hideous after about 2 and a half hours. Have Santini winter tight and like the pad in them too. Velo Revolution club kit is good too. The pad in the DHB ones are the comfiest I have found so far, and the fabric in it is nice and soft. I would say that the stitching in the DHB ones and overall finish isn't as good as the others but they're not too pricey I think (they're discounted regularly, summer shorts bought in winter time and all that).

Anyone have good suggestions for leg warmers that don't give huge muffin leg? Essentially looking for ones with a wide elastic bit at the top :pac:

Looking for the same - holy grail - have been nursing a pair of Nora Batty esque Giordana leg warmers the last couple of years. Velocio ones are meant to be designed with women's thighs in mind. Have tried loads of the bloody things and they all horrendous. All my other cycling clothes are size small, but seem to be a large in leg warmers

Ha ha snap! I'm beginning to think they don't exist...and they only come with a tiny, tight elastic bits. When you see seriously fit women and even pro women with muffin leg it's time somebody made some decent ones!
I currently have some baggy, second hand xl ones that continually fall down despite their muffining abilities!

They're 50. Ordered the Galibier women's leg warmers as they were cheap - quality was terrible, zips fell off when I tried them on. They did give me a refund straight away. Nice idea though as they come in different lengths, I always have to turn them up at the bottom.

Thanks Gadetra. I was looking at DHB shorts on Wiggle yesterday and was wondering if they were any good. I saw a pair that looked good and the colours on the side panels are very similar to our kit so they'd fit right in (extremely important!! :D).

I've given up on leg warmers. It's impossible to get a pair that fit and don't make your thighs look horrendous under your shorts.

So annoyong isn't it! Someone, somewhere must have worked on this. There was one actually now that I remember:

But apparantly it didn't cut it. Investment needed!

It's amazing with the amount of gilding the lily smartisan, revolutionary kickstarters for bikes, lights, locks and helmets that no one has made an effort to resolve the women's legwarmer issue.

All it would take is one product to launch successfully to get every manufacturer cracking away at a better /snazzier solution.

On topic: @Gadetra are the ASV shorts female specific?

I didn't find them great on longer spins but that may be a male anatomical thing or just a YMMV thing.

I also remember someone, I think namelessPhil advocating really good quality Rapha non-bib tights for women on really long rides because of the effectiveness and comfort of the waistband and the practicality for personal administration purposes.

yeah they're the women's specific bibs. A version of these, except mine have a different pattern on them and were 60% off:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-asv-race-womens-bib-shorts-black-edition/
They have the red pad, suits me. It's a purely personal thing though.

Must get some winter tights now actually.

Not a fan of non-bib shorts, as my hips are a good bit bigger than my waist, so they roll down and jersey's also ride up my back for the same reason, so I end up with a gap between non-bib shorts and jersey, which is deeply irritating.

I imagine ones with a waistband tight enough would just constantly remind my bladder how long I've been on the bike for

What about these .. ASSOS legWarmer S7
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/assos-leg-warmer-s7/rp-prod71481

"Curved top - Assos have always believed in breaking with tradition but sticking with what works. Taking the unconventional curved top that they used in the previous version, they have kept it. The curved top fits perfectly to the shape of your hip, held in place by your short, meaning not only added protection higher up, but greater comfort."

    Little pricey though ....

Had a look at the Rapha women's tights last night out of curiosity. Waistband looks super deep.

I'd guess that's how they get around the pressure issues, by spreading it over a larger area.

is there any place that does plus sized ladies shorts? I'm currently wearing mens endura bib shorts which I find ok but I'd really love to try some ladies ones to see if they are better
