Rosate glyphosate is way cheaper than Roundup, and does the same job - is there any difference between the 2 , and why do tillage lads seem to persist with Roundup?

Gallup is similar. Same concentrations as roundup.
Although some of the roundup products may have a sticking agent added which would help in some applications and conditions.

It's the cost per mg of glyphosate as can vary in concentration that matters.
Another thing prob more important to tillage is additives, acidifiers and stickers if needed glyphosate works best as about 5ph iirc for breaking down the leaf waxes on plants like osr. For instance last year branded roundup bio active + or some stupid name similar came in 720mg/lt bags in powder form was cheaper when going for the whole mix to get a faster kill. Collecting rain water/bore hole is better than tap water. For normal use just cheap stuff if you have time is OK.

Roundup FLex claims rainfast in 1 hour and reseed after 4 days instead of 7
