Hi, I am trying to figure out if there is a transmission oil dip stick for a Volvo s40 2007. Can't find it? Any ideas? Thanks a million.

Cheers for the reply, no it's not an automatic? I have had a problem when the car is cold getting it into second gear. 5 mins later when the car heats it's perfect and slips in. I checked online and it seemed to suggest checking the transmission fluid level? As you may have gathered I know zero about cars. Any help will be gratefully received!!! Thanks again!

There wouldn't normally be a gearbox dip stick on a manual car, you would normally open the oil filler bolt on the gearbox and basically add fluid until it starts coming out to know it's at the correct level. It would be more adviseable to change the fluid rather than to top it up if there's problems in certain gears until the oil in the box heats up as that could point to the oil having degraded. You would need to buy a new gasket (washer) so that when you drain all the oil you can put a fresh one on, gearbox oil is a certain spec depending on your car.

    Here's the basic process...
