    Hi
Still finding my way around with the new LEAF and was in Midleton, Cork on Monday. The ESB map shows 2 SCP's in Midleton and one is supposedly down.

Incidentally, none of the spaces in Midleton have EV markings on the ground so a space on each charger was ICE'd.

Anyway, I used the out of service one. No issues! Green lights on both sides and no errors on the screen and it charged me just fine.

I gave ESB a call just in case they had it tagged wrong and they noted it but its still tagged out of service.

Is this common? How reliable and up to date is the ESB map for you folks?

I tried using them twice - the one near the roundabout was ICE'd the first time and didn't work the second time. The one near the distillery was ICE'd both times.

Same with q-park Dublin 1 marked faulty. Rang q-park before I went to Dublin this morning - all fine. Used them and left at around 13.00h, still marked offline...

I think the problem is that there are no markings on the ground. Non EV drivers wouldnt even see the charger. Until they paint the ground and mark it they will continue to be ICE'd.

I digress.... What Im more interested in in this thread is the reliability of the ESB map.

Part of the problem is that the third party operated ecars call centre is not kept up,to date by esb ecars. The call centre cannot mark sites up or down , and can only respond to directions from ecars. That communications loop seems wanting

For example the call centre didn't have a clue when the Gorey FCP work was to begin , even though it stated the very next day after I rang them for an update

What I take from that is... The status of chargers on the ESB map have to be taken with a pinch of salt!

If you are to take any long EV journeys you need to be able to rely on accurate data on that map. Rolling up to a rapid with 15% battery left and the next charger is 20 miles away isnt much use!

The map should be real time accurate.

Yes it should. It's a major failing . We dont suffer from range anxiety we suffer from infrastructure anxiety !!

Slight tangent to the OP but thought it worth adding an update for this charger....

During the last week "they" painted the 2 spaces at this charger , cut back the shrubbery around it and it worked.... for the first time in a very long time it was not ICE'd.

I think that goes some way to proving that ground markings do work/help.

However, on a downside the charger was out of service and eCars could not connect to it to reset it. Ah well, cant have it all! :)
