I've been looking at a couple of 12 passat cc. One is the old design and the other is the new design. Both around 60 k on the clock with the newer one going for a couple thousand more. Any opinions on which any of you prefer. I'm kind of drawn to the styling of the older model but I'd like to hear what you guys have to say. Cheers

It was just a face lifting... It is still first generation of the CC.

Slightly more than a facelift. I moved from an 11 CC to a 151 CC last year.

The old CC was based on the internals of the B6 Passat. The new CC based on B7. The new CC has a relocated the electronic parking brake to the central console. Functionality in terms of engage/release is a bit better. HVAC controls updated too.

The main difference is however, the new CC is incredibly refined. A fair bit more than the old one - which was great it has to be said. It's at least E-Class levels of refinement on the current model. Amazingly supple suspension - but then I have DCC as standard (it's standard on the 177bhp variant). It's quieter too as it has better noise reduction on the floor and body as well as outside-noise reducing glass as standard.

My 151 came pretty much fully loaded with a few extras I added this time around and I prefer the cosmetics of this model save for the rear lights.... They were more distinctive on the last model.

Slightly off topic but the electronic parking brake on my old 2011 Passat CC was located on the centre console below the gear leaver, to the right. They also moved the front cup holders to a different location and added a centre rear seat. The Passat CC's interior got a mild facelift back in early 2011 to bring it inline with the regular B7 Passat. The CC's interior hasn't really changed since 2011 except maybe for the steering wheel and infotainment system which are now the same as that found on the B8 Passat. B7 Passat was just a refreshed B6 Passat and the CC is the same. Passat name was dropped in 2012 when the CC got a mid life makeover but it's based on the last generation B6/B7 Passat.

Back to the original question, many people dislike the front end of the facelifted CC and think it's a bit bland. I prefer the front end of the pre facelifted model too but do prefer the rear end of the facelift more. Mechanically both prefacelift and facelift are pretty much use the same oily bits unless you are going for a 15 reg model that got the newer range of engines. So it will probably boil down to personal preference OP on which you like more. Unless there is a huge difference in spec and condition I wouldn't be spending thousands extra for the facelift model.

Cheers lads. The spec is fairly similar in both cars. 18 inch alloys, sat nav, touchscreen display etc. The only thing I'm not sure is if the older model has bi exeon headlights. But that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

They got bi-xenon headlights as standard on the facelift model. Rare enough to find them on a pre facelift model though, I'm presuming both are UK imports? GT was the top UK spec model whereas Sport was the top Irish spec model.

Make sure the air conditioning is working properly too, the air conditioning compressor on VWs of that vintage has been known to fail and its about €800/€900 to replace.

Cheers lad. I think I'm going to opt for the older version. Suits me wallet a bit better. Just need to give it another good look over and get my bargaining hat on

Well I've been debating it and I think ill go for the older model. Mileage is bit higher but the price is fairly good
