Audi 1 or Golf TSI?

The A1 is basically a fancy Polo. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I don't think it impresses anybody - which isn't the whole point of them but it has to be a factor.
The link for the Golf isn't working, but id have a decently specced Golf over an A1 every time.

Also look at the VW Scirocoo and Seat Leon.

What diesel car are you driving at the moment?

    Hi,

Changed the link for the VW - should work now I hope.

    I have a Volvo C30 1.6d R Design at the moment.

The Golf is a better car in pretty much every respect. As colm says there is nothing wrong with the Audi it's just a lesser car with less equipment.

drive both and see how you feel on them, don't rule out Audi cause others don't like it. You never now, it might be your cup of tea :)

Worth pointing out that the Golf is 105bhp and the Audi is 86bhp.

I'd go Golf if the choice was just those two, I think the A1 is too small, a grand more expensive too.

Thanks all. I drove the Audi yesterday, a nice drive for a small car. I didn't get to drive the Golf yet as it was being serviced but they let me drive a newer version which was had a more solid feel than the Audi and of course more strength with the better bhp.

My only slight concern on the TSI engine is there have been problems with the timing chain slipping and needing to be replaced - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057296603

I need to have at the service records and find out if this has been carried out on this car.

I think my gut instinct is with the Golf.

    Thanks again.
