Sinus Problems

I'm a 36 year old male, and for last 2 years have been having problems with sinuses. For the first year, it was only happening every 3 months roughly...I'd get a constant headache for a day or two, go to the doctor, ang antibiotics would get rid of it. But since November last, I've been getting them every 3-4 weeks. I get constant headaches, and a throbbing nose, all up one side of my face. Also feels like my teeth are going to come out my jaw at that side of my face. It takes nearly a week for antibiotics to kick in, and then 2 weeks later, back to square one. It's affecting all aspects of life, I work in a gym, so can't do classes with it...any noise level from kids at home and it feels like my head is going to bust. Literally want to just lie in a dark room and close my eyes. Solpadeine might ease the pain for an hour and then it's back...can't keep taking solpadeine contantly for a week either.
I went to a homeopathist and he told me to give up wheat, dairy, oats, nuts, bananas and all pig related meat....what else is there to eat outside of those! Anyway, the doctor sent me for a head x-ray which showed up clear. So then in January, he referred me for a MRI scan publicly, which could take 12 months. So today, I decided I can't take it anymore so I'm going private and pay the €200 or whatever to get the scan done in the next week or 2 hopefully. But then I could be witing months to see the ENT specialist. How much would it cost to stay private.? Can anyone advise on what works for them. I have Becanese nasal spray which used keep it at bay, but I'll keep trying it. I also got Sterimar spray yesterday so will see what that is like. My nose doesn't get blocked, except in the morning when I blow it, there might be a load of mucus plus blood. Any help appreciated.

I suffer v badly with sinusitis too. However, I've found that a Neti pot helps greatly. Also Dymista nasal spray (prescription only) has been a life saver!
Also, I wonder are you allergic to dust mites in your bed? The fact that you are getting it so often points to either (a) antibiotics never fully curing it or (b) something triggering you. Get some hospital grade rubber/latex pillows and mattress covers. Launder sheets at high temps often. Have you carpet and curtains in your bedroom? It could be very dusty. I know this sounds weird but the runners you wear...are they old? Could they be infested with mould?...from feet? All shoes are. They can cause serious allergies. All else fails, try Bruce Mitchell in the Blackrock Clinic. Good luck!

P.S. There are exercises you can do by tilting your head to drain out the mucus etc. You might need a few weeks/months of low grade antibiotics and then try to manage it once all infection is gone.

Thanks for the reply...I work in a gym so I use the steamroom and sauna most days, but only get temporary relief from those. Also, have timber floors and just a black out blind on the window, so it's not those. I don't wear old runners....as I said, I work in a gym so I get a new pair of runners ever 4-5 months.

Antibiotics will ultimately leave you worse in the long run, wouldn't be recommended to take regular courses. You can treat a sinus infection by putting a few drops of Goldenseal in a saline rinse as mentioned above, works wonders!

I'd take the plunge and go privately to an ENT if it's that bad. He'll send you for allergy tests and a CT scan which would hopefully give you some answers.

Did your doc put you on any steroids or steroid nasal spray? Mine did as mine is going on a few months
