I used Mr. Windscreen for my Focus last Saturday. They did a good job and she's not leaking any water. I couldn't tell you much about Autoglass but I had a good experience with Mr. Windscreen!

Autoglass in the UK had a lot of bad publicity a while back, seemingly due to them switching to an all-mobile setup and standards dropping, was on BBC Watchdog, link.

The Irish setup may or may not be different, but I'd be surprised at getting better service from anyone here than they give in UK as in general companies can be as bad as they like and still get a free ride here from our joke of a mainstream media.

Yeah Autoglass might be a bit too mainstream in fairness. Mr. Windscreen was a proper garage though and they didn't do the replacement out of their van.

But to be honest there isn't much special in windshield replacement. All they do is use the correct tool to cut the windshield glue which can be in a van and then apply new glue. The biggest difference would be in the brand of windshield used and its quality.

For an insurance job would it not have to be OEM? Since that's how all other insurance claims are done.

Autoglass fitted a pilkington windscreen in my car last year. Absolutely no complaints with it.

Everyone windscreen company fit windscreens out of their van even if they have a garage or not.

Most people appreciate the fact as windscreen is fitted at work or at home without a need to drive to the garage.

I don't understand what is the issue with them not having an actual workshop tbh???

Zombie bump, I just wanted to add one comment rather than a new thread.

My van windscreen was smashed, insurance does not cover it, Autoglass quoted me 430 Euro to replace, Mr Windscreen 160 Euro.

Avoid Autoglass like the plague, They have a nice little cartel going with the insurance companies and are just gouging people.

There's different quality of windscreen available. Just because one company supplies the cheaper version doesn't mean that the other company is ripping you off.
