Great piece by Gillick here. Great to see him back running. 48.05 in Italy recently in his first 400m race in 4 years. I wonder is he eyeing a spot on the relay team for Rio? Very achievable if he gets down to running under 47.

Yep good read and a nice lad, it was funny just hear he was down on a track a few weeks ago, but didn't expect a come back. He is now down for the IMC meet in Belfast now too.

Great article, he always comes across very well.

Bought his cook book, more for a read than anything else, but his recipes are very good, love the protein balls.

The 400m is an extremely tough event. The physical demands of trying to sprint for one lap of the track are huge, but I think the mental demands are even greater.
Knowing you are going to hurt yourself and trying to prepare for that last 50m, which feels like trying to run with a fridge on your back, can be hard to get your head around.

    Couldnt have put it better!

I would love to see him in Rio it would be a fitting end to his career. On and off the track he has been a great ambassador for his sport and his country.

Good chance of making the relay team , but cant remember how close they are to making the games now . 45.4 might be a bit of a big ask in a come back.

I would love to see him back running for Ireland. What he achieved was really really incredible and I think changed the mindset for Irish middle distance runners about what they could aim for.

The 400m is not a middle distance event.

Really enjoyed reading his article. Was gutted when he was forced to stop because of injuries. A superb talent.
