C4 Picasso - Wheel Alignment Issue

07 Citroen Grand Picasso, 1.6 diesel.

Failed NCT due to front wheel alignment being outside tolerance levels. Brought it to have wheel alignment done, then straight to NCT for re-test and the front wheels were even further out than the first time. Back to the wheel alignment guy who said that the rear wheels had moved since the earlier alignment job. Re-did the alignment and straight back to NCT for another re-test.

The NCT guys actually brought me out to the testing lane to show me that the rear wheels were moving too much during the slip test (front were now fine). In fairness to the lads, they put the car up on the ramps and tried to locate the problem - no issue with the bushes, bearings etc.

Anyone know what the issue could possibly be? They tyres are borderline needing to be changed - could this throw out the alignment test, so soon after wheel alignment being set?
