Can't Connect Smart TV to the aerial

I have bought a SAMSUNG UHD SMART LED TV but don't seem to be able to connect it to the aerial. The cable from the aerial won't go in to the back of the TV. My thinking is it's for a more old style TV which the previous occupant of the house probably had. Is there something you can buy to make it connect?

TV aerial connectors have not changed in 60 years. Must be something wrong with your cable, perhaps it is the wrong gender connector, or perhaps it is a F connector from a dish or cable TV.

The plug on the left (male Belling-Lee connector) is for an aerial feed to the TV, the one on the right is an F-connector and is used to connect a satellite receiver to a satellite dish or possibly a cable box to a cable network as winston points out above.

Do you have an aerial or satellite dish on your property?
