    Hi all!

I am in the process of acquiring an Optoma HD141X projector, which I plan to use with a tripod screen on the Apple TV. I am still house searching, so I am unsure the exact size of the room I will place this in permanently.

That being said, I am seeking surround sound speakers or a sound bar (or something of the sorts); basically, I'd like to get the bet sound possible for my budget.

My budget caps at £100/€120 and I would like to find the best solution within this price range or cheaper. I am seeking something with a decent cinema-type sound range.

My preference is to purchase off of Amazon, although I will consider anything.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

    Cheers!

    Your issue is the budget.
Unless you look at 2nd hand av & speakers you might as well stick to pc speakers...
An old av amp and stereo speakers/cheap multi channel should not top €200 that siad it's important to look at future spec.
Do you want to exceed 1080p or look for 7.1/11.1. This will reflect on your overall budget and may force you into buying multiple systems

not being snobbish but you're not going to get something cinema type for 100 euros.

at that price range, i'd go on amazon, go to the all in one HTIB(home theatre in a box) systems, put in 120 euros as your max budget and just pick whatever one looks like the best deal(see if one is discounted or something), as in reality they'll sound pretty much the same.

even second hand 120 euros isn't going to buy you a lot .in fact your best bet may be a set of 5.1 computer speakers, as from your post i imagine it's a laptop you will be using as a source?

With €120, you can't expect good quality sound. Ye, some kind of sound/noise here and there, but nothing desend.

There is few second hand AV receivers around €200+ mark, but you'll need some speakers as well, that will add few extra yoyos on top of the bill.

Thanks for the advice! I'm certainly not expecting crystal-clear cinema quality sound on my budget; I guess I'm rather trying to find the best thing within this price range.

Can someone advise on the below product? It seems to have great reviews and, while I know its not designed for a home cinema, it seems to be known for good sound quality. Thoughts?

[ Edit.... It seems I cant post links in my newbie status... It is the Amazon UK "Logitech Z506 Surround Sound Speakers."]

If you wire it to a TV you will only get stereo. Your going to need a sound source capable of multiple channel out. Some bluray players can do that but are quite expensive. The Z506 is designed for computer's with that capability.

This is an ignorant question of mine, but because I plan to use it with a projector, do the projectors usually have the same hookups as a normal TV? Thanks.

Same. Unless is has optical(digital coaxial) or hdmi input it's just going to be stereo.

Thanks! So your recommendation would be to get a multi channel set, something like the Sony DAV-TZ140 or LG DH4430P 5.1 that I see on Amazon?

Yes - if you are planing on playing back just dvds. Those two models have digital output, not inputs. Analogue only, so stereo playback
