Have a 2 year old semi trained sheepdog that was working really well in the Autumn but after the sheep being housed for the winter which meant he was not working, but now with all the sheep back out he won't look at tgem , he sits on the quad and when he gets down he runs out of the field! He's afraid of sheep but why I don't know? Any ideas?

I think any farmer that loses contact with sheep gets the same way!

Sounds like you will have to start from scratch..

Put him in a pen with a few sheep and get the sheep to move around a bit. The pen should be fairly small but with enough room for the sheep to run around. He should take an interest fairly quickly.

I wonder did he get too close to a ewe in the shed and got a clatter

Has your dog become over weight?

I have a similar problem, only my dog has lost the edge. He has the interest and will do great runs but the sheep are stubborn and he finds it hard to drive them if they stop and face him. A few ewe hoggets even go for him now at this stage. Wouldn't mind but I bought him of a lad that trains them and I explained the sheep were stubborn but he assured me the dog would be able for them. After 6 months the sheep have him well figured out. Needless to say I'm far from impressed
