Modern car that's easy to work on?

Hey -- am looking to buy a car having not owned one for a few years.

Looking for suggestions on a modern car that is relatively easy to work on/service...i.e., isn't a huge complicated computer. The reason is, I like to look after my motors myself, as much as possible (change plugs, oil, filters, check for error codes, etc.)...and then to let dealers do the few things I cannot.

I know from past experience that makes and models can vary greatly in this regard.

Any suggestions? What would you choose?

Corolla, Focus etc should be fine. Don't look on the complications of the computer, instead get yourself an ODB reader to connect to the car and let the car tell you its faults and reasons for warning lights.

Thanks. Yep, I'm cool with technology, no problem there...But I'd be more concerned with the needing a computer/expensive software just to service it...

I'm more of a motorcyclist, and I have a bike where balancing throttle bodies requires special software (Triumph). Also, some bikes have the plugs accessible easily, others require removing a load of panels / tank / seat, etc... so would like a car that is known to be simple to work on. Also, thinking of more complex jobs like valve clearances...
