Where to work? Air Traffic Controller.

    In Ireland how much money AFTER TAX would an Air Traffic Controller with 6 years as a controller in the US Airforce make within his first 3 years working in Ireland?

    You'd have to train from scratch and start at the bottom level trainee pay, this isn't much...

    Well I would have done 6 years in the US Airforce doing the ATC.

    Means nothing to the IAA other than you have some knowledge of what is involved in ATC. FAA and military SOP are completely different to EASA civil ATC operations. You would be required to re-train to the IAA's standards.

    Some of the info above is not accurate.

    The IAA has taken on many direct entry controllers in the last 10 years or so. These have been both civilian controllers and military (ex Irish Aer Corp). Both types entered the salary scale based off prior experience, not at the bottom.

    Their training was condensed (compared to the IAA student controller program) and based on their previous ATC background and experience.

    To my knowledge the IAA have not hired military direct entries other than the ex Irish Aer Corp. I suspect this is down to a lack of foreign military applicants.

    The IAA advertised for direct entry controllers earlier this year and there was a high number of applicants. However this recruitment was later scrapped.

    Contacting IAA HR directly is your best option as they should be able to provide the most solid information.

    I believe to be a direct entry controller,(temp contract) you had to be "current" as in have a valid license, and i don't think foreign military counts in EASA's books, but i would again reiterate the above advice of contacting directly the IAA
