EC225LP Super Puma crash in Norway, no survivors

    Really shocking news coming in of a EC225LP Super Puma returning from a North Sea platform crashing just off the coast in western Norway.

    Eyewitnesses have described seeing the rotors fall separately to the fuselage. The fuselage is in 6-7m of water and the rotors have been found on a small island close by. Of the 13 onboard, 11 were Norwegian, 1 British and 1 Italian passenger also.

    Devastating. RIP to all.

    Considering its chequered history and the reports that the main rotor detached the accident causation is likely to be very interesting.

    Shocking to see the video of the rotor falling to the ground, just read on pprune that the helicopter had a gearbox fitted yesterday. RIP

    R.I.P old friend,you will always be remembered.
