Hi. My father is currently in the process of signing over some land to me with the last few months. The bank have to deeds to it from a loan which has cleared with a few years and he never got the deeds back from them. His Soliciter has been dealing with the bank up to now and they claim that they can't find them. This has been going on since January and we are no closer to having them now than we were then. I'm wondering what the next step is if they can't find them and what kind of a timeframe we're looking at to get things sorted? Can new deeds be made up and will the bank cover the cost of this seen as they are at fault? I'm not sure if this is a common occurrence but I'm a bit disappointed to be in this situation and wasn't expecting it to happen. My father is going to go into the bank and try and talk to them himself but I can't see him fairing any better than the solicitor to be honest.
