    It's strange that the sequence can't be " rushed " . If you press the brake and engage the start button and shift to soon I find you get N in stead of R , which can lead to unintended roll forward !!!!!

    Totally agree, it is a pain having to wait and even worse when it goes pear shaped . I read somewhere that if you turn off the chime that shortens the sequence so are less likely to get into limbo. However I personally would not like to go down that route as the chime is the feedback that the "engine" is running.
    There are a number of silly design decisions on the Leaf software that good User Acceptance Testing should have highlighted and had ironed out.

    Hahha, my other half was complaining on a few occasions that the car is not working for her... even got peed off once... until I realised she was being her usual fast paced self and was not following the sequence in starting the car.
    I did turn off the chime as I find it unnecessary and yes the time is from pushing the button to actually start the car is slightly less.

    Yeah, happened my OH as well. A little patience. Don't diesel glow plugs require it too.
    BTW got 30Kw Leaf. OH driving it. Iv'e got the diesel!!!!

    I dont flick it to D until I feel the power steering kick in. Im sure it initialises faster than that though.
