    Howdy

I'm just after completing a mod on a tankstick so it's now a Saturn stick which made me wonder about the best sticks for the various formats out there.
my principal question is what are the best options for the Nes and Famicom, as they are the consoles in my collection that I have yet to own an arcade stick for, but I'd love to see a non-list reponse to the best out there.
I think consideration on cost and value for money is also important when thinking about it, otherwise it'd be Micomsoft XE-1 all the way!
Pictures and videos are particularly welcome!

The Championship Joystick by C&L is definitely the best one for the SNES, it's quite tough to find these days and bit pricey but it can be modded for pretty much any console as it has regular arcade stick parts.

The Asciiware Super Advantage is still a pretty good choice and pretty common to find as well, good quality joystick overall really.

Not especially retro, but do you possess the Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick for the Wii? Granted, it's one of (I think) only 3 options on the system, but if you're looking for something to use on Wii U/Wii-based VC and non-retro goodies, it's highly recommendable. It gets solid "out of the box" reviews, but it's also easily moddable, with solderless connections and whatnot, if you wanna go upmarket and stick Sanwa bits in there.

It's also probably one of the better times to buy it. It's creeping up in price, slowly but certainly.

I've a NES Advantage and its not great really just uses bigger rubber buttons rather than microswitches so feel fairly spongy.

Why not stick another padhack into the Tankstick, should be no problem wiring a couple of them in parallel (apart for the extra cable hanging out)

They really are terrible. They were fine at the time in a similar vein to arcade ports. We didn't know any better :pac:

The Megadrive and SNES sticks from that era (apart from the Micomsoft XE ST 2) are the same, just garbage.

Thankfully when the 32 bit era came along, Namco had their excellent ps1 stick and then there's the Jap Saturn SS stick...but anything previous to that in general is terrible.

Ultimately I'd just love either a Saturn SS or a DC stick with a load of cable mods/pad hacks
    to work on everything.

I might try this for the Famicom, though it would necessitate buying a third party controller and using the pcb.
What about this though, it seems like a nice stick for the Famicom

    +1

I just use Mayflash adapters to allow me to use the HSS-0136 and Namco sticks with SS/MD/PSX/PC etc. Not sure if they make one for NES/Famicom but that would be my preferred route also - quality stick + adapter.
