it seems to me that the train stopped short momentarily, and the second it stopped a Steward at the front of the train opened the door and alighted. The driver probably didn't know he had, or if he did, was committed to pulling up.

It sounds very minor to me (without knowing the full facts

This is a lot more than minor. If a train if working on a derogation from central locking the stewards must be safety briefed. Doors must not be opened until the train has come to a complete standstill. Also, a train driver must not move his train without checking that the train guard has given the okay and having checked it is safe to do. Either way there's a serious breach of safe operations here and this will land them into a lot of bother.

Unfortunately this is probably true. No matter how trivial the incident, the authorities will be probing West Coast with a fine tooth comb.

It is sad given the recent ban.
WCR crews should really be on their best behaviour.

We live in a strange world now. Everything is a potential problem.
If the Victorians had adopted 5% of the nonsense we put up with today we would still be living in mud huts.
