Hopefully i might get some advice here

A family member has had a rough time of it lately regarding health. Yesterday while driving he/she had side affects of a very mild stroke..she got blurred vision from an eye.. Instead of parking the car she decided to drive the 2 miles home..she is now recovering in hospital

Neways while driving it appears she clipped another car..she felt that it might have happened but she thought no damage would have been caused and obviously with the panic it wasnt at the forefront of her mind

The guards have been in touch after she was spotted in cctv. Obviously we want to sort this and we dont want the problems. I have told the guards what happened..apologised non stop and ive said i will pay all damages without the need for progression. It wasnt the case that he/she was being scummy leaving the scene. They didnt know and the second we know were looking to sort at. My understanding is thats is just a wing mirror and a scrape.

Speak to the owner of the damaged car and explain the situation. Any decent person will just want their car put back to the way it was before the incident.

This is a tricky one. What did the police say?
If going according to the law then the minimum will be a fine but this is solely up to the district court.
The next step is you will need to inform your insurance company about this which I also imagine they wont be very pleased with it.
Driving the two miles home was a silly move and potentially a very costly mistake.
Cant understand why, if you suspect you are having a stroke, you would decide to drive instead of calling an ambulance...

Well it wasnt that they knew they were having a stroke. They got blurred vision..drove home and then somebody else drove them to hospital. Nobody knew what had happened or to what extent. He/she was in a panic..never knew or comprehended what happened.

I went straight to police after i found out. They obviously believed what we said..i told em straight out i want it sorted. They said they recognise what happened and that we accept responsibilty the next day..they make the final decision from a charges point of view..from a damage point of view we can sort that also. No need to get insurance involved

Ok then id be getting in touch with the owner of the other car asap and getting it sorted.
Will you be going through the insurance or just cash?
If cash id make the person sign a form that all costs have been paid and that the matter is solved.
Cant advise you what the police will do though.

I stupidly left the scene of an accident I caused when I was younger and I didnt have mitigating circumstances like your relatives op. I was caught and the guards showed up to the house. Damage wasn't major but all I got was a warning initially. I got the details of the person I hit and rang up to apologise. I really felt terrible and it was a stupid mistake. I paid all her costs obviously and the matter was dropped.

my full sympathy OP. we all do things sometimes that with hindsight we would have done differently and who knows what emotions your relative was experiencing at the time.

it seems that you've done whatever you can to square this up. You'll just have to wait and see what happens.

As regards the Ins Co, whatever about the scrape, they'll have to be informed about the stroke.

My better half many years ago as a fairly new driver misjudged a gap on a narrow street and clipped a classic Merc, nowhere to park she drove the half mile to where she was going and rang me.
I immediately jumped in the car and went straight to the police where I was told " yeah, we're looking for her", they put me in touch with the Merc owner , who , embarrassingly I slightly knew, the car was repaired, I paid up and nothing further was done..
I 'forcibly' impressed on herself that you never ever leave the scene of an accident, so much so when a motorcyclist broke a red light a couple years ago and hit her amidships, she point blank refused to move her car till the guards turned up , blocking a busy junction in the process...:o

    Inform your insurer.
