Log book transfer

    Just bought a second hand car. I bought it with no tax so need to wait until its transferred into my name to tax it. How long will it take for the log book to be posted back to me??

    Couple of days. Got mine today. Sent in by my OH, transferring car to me a few days ago.

    Have a look on vehicle transaction area on motortax.ie and it will show when they receive updated details and when they send you out the new book, usually 5-10 working days will do it.

    it's fairly quick atm boight car on the firday. Checked on the Monday the cert had been issued arrived in the post today.

    seems to be taking a while for me. I sold my last car on thursday (5 Business days) still hasnt transferred to its new owner. Hopefully my book comes through. worried about parking it on public roads incase i get a ticket!

    Always sign a separate deal (in two copies and handle second to the buyer) and take full identification from the buyer.

    You'll be covered then.
