In need of some advice here. Im moving jobs which will have me doing 1 to 2 fortnightly trips to Belfast from Dublin. I already drive to Donegal, Leitrim and Galway at a weekend each every month so would be doing at least 1 long trip every week. We bring a lot of kit with us (bikes, dog, wetsuits etc) so id been looking at estates. Id been looking at I40, Skoda Octavia/Superb, Megane, Volva V50/60/70, Avensis but am open to all suggestions.

I want to try get a car that has the following:
    • Manual with cruise control
    • Decent mpg
    • Decent pull, don't want to feel like i'm dragging a car when i accelerate - what kind of bhp would people say is minimum?
    • Would like some form of warranty - likely need either dealer then or private that can prove manufacturer warranty is still valid
    • Would like a USB and/or mini jack connection for music
    • Ideally not too much mileage

My other half doesnt really like estates and wants an SUV but i dont seem them offering any more (likely less) space and im not that keen on the extra running costs (tyre replacement, fuel costs etc)
