Hi everyone I have a question if anybody could answer or point me in the right direction that would be great. I recently applied to do the theory test for a C licence then hopefully go for my learner permit and then on to my full. So do I get category C and C1 or is C1 like CE other tests I need to do in the future?

C is large trucks, C1 is smaller. Take the C test Op.

Do the c test as it will cover you for the c1 as well but c1 will not cover c.
CE is the artic test (truck and trailer), you need to pass the c test before you can apply for the CE.
No need to do another theory test for CE once you pass the c test

There are many ways of skinning the cat depending what your priorities are. If you really just need the C1E category (think of a builder that needs a small tipper truck with the capability of towing a trailer for a mini digger, then you might do things differently. However, in a nutshell, assuming you're over 21, the shortest route to building up your group 2 licence categories is as follows:

You already must have B & W so you can get a permit for C & C1- you can then pass the C test so you will automatically receive the full C and C1 too as it's smaller than the C however you won't be able to tow trailers bigger than 750kg.

You can then apply for a CE permit and if you pass the CE test, you will then receive CE, C1E and BE.

[If you want to go for bus categories, the best thing to do is wait until you have the CE so when you pass the D test, you will automatically receive D, DE, D1 & D1E.]

Sorry, haven't used this website in ages and didn't know how to make a new thread! Just a quick question: My replacement licence arrived today but "Ennis" is a line up from where it should be. Will that be an issue when I go for the test? It reads like

    (First address line)
    *Space here*
    (county)
