    Hi
I failed nct for 5 things. My 28 days is up soon and only 3 are fixed. Can i put it thru and hope they'll write off 3 of the fixes and leave me a bit more time to sort the last 2 or what should i do?

No it has to pass in full within the 28 days or else it's a full retest on everything. I presume the 2 others are fail items and not fail advisory?

Thanks, what I'm asking though is will they still fail me on all 5 things or just fail me on 2 things? So my subsequent retest will only be on 2 things?

Do you get what i mean?

They don't do write offs. Get the 3 items fixed, worst case is to redo the whole test again. At least it isn't too expensive - but there is a risk of new things being found substandard.

I think they will verbally say to you that the 3 things are fixed but will not reissue another fail sheet to say this and will check all 5 again within the 28 days if you bring it back for final 2. It's pointless bringing it back unless all 5 are done unless the car is at a stage where your wondering is it uneconomical to repair.

Regardless, if the 28 days pass from the original test then to you must do a full test.

They will pass the ones you fixed, but you still have to be within 28 days of first test when presenting the car for second retest.

    Hope that makes sense.

I don't see any reason to bring it in if not all issues are fixed - you will have to get a full test anyway for the last bits.
May as well wait until everything is ready and get a full test done again.
