Few days ago I saw someone driving around with NI in front of the licence plate but since GB is the official one I was wondering where you can still get the NI version and if it's allowed to drive around with it.

I know most cars don't have anything on it but I rather have a NI version than GB or nothing at all.

NI isn't official, but it's tolerated in NI. It's worth noting UK however is an official identifier if you didn't want GB.

GB is the official EU identifier for the UK (GB and NI), but unlike here it's not mandatory to use an identifier as part of your registration plate, but if you drive outside of the UK you would need a white GB oval sticker.

to answer your question, someone like Eireplates would make you whatever you want. They wont be legal though necessarily.

Eireplates don't do NI Euro flags, but they might do some on special request.

    You could also use these:-

I think those would be illegal to use, either in UK, NI, ROI or anywhere else.

Indeed they are illegal, but tolerated in NI, not sure if they would be so tolerated in GB and I doubt any other country would realise they were illegal.

I saw a Mercedes in Armagh with an English registration and an 'IRL' plate tag.

For some reason this irked me measurably. I thought "you cheeky beggar, if I was a PSNI officer I'd fine you" (if it's an offence).

You don't need any plate of any sort on a NI plate, unless you are going to the Continent, where NI would not be legal.

    Why?

    I assume it's illegal.

I saw a car with a BzH plate in Cherbroug, though it was a long way for a POS car from Bosnia to drive but turns out even French people break the law as it's a Brittany plate, getting onto the boat to Ireland with no FR sticker.

Plenty of people drive with illegal plates and get away with it once the correct registration is clearly legible. I also only found out after riding illegally around Switzerland that the country on the registration plate wasn't enough and that I needed a separate IRL sticker.

    IDGAF. Thanks, Billy.

Btw, Billy was a good mate of mine, and a good telegraph operator. He used to talk to his co-workers in the canteen by tapping Morse code on the table. IDGAF was not allowed, but was sometimes 'accidentally' used. 5-char codes, not 5chan.

So, I say again, for Billy, IDGAF

NI plates; no opinion. ICGAF, tbh.
