Why do you think she moved to NYC, in reality Jessica Fletcher was a mad serial killer who invented mystries from her hospital bed, when every week when a visitor would come to her, they'd be trapped in an episode of MSW, and be found to be the victim, who Jess would later blame on their jealous children, long lost relative, employee etc etc.
