Selling a car at auction

I am in the process of trying to sell a car.

I tried Adverts and Donedeal but have lost countless hours in past few weeks meeting time wasters.

I don't have the patience for that any longer as the cars value is below 1k so am pushed now to try selling at auction in Dublin or surrounding areas.

Has anybody got experience with selling via car auction?

I would like to try run it though with a reserve price and if it doesn't sell on 1st week I will reduce reserve and try again until sold.

Best value auction house is really what I am looking for

Any pointers would be great, thanks

Does the car have current NCT? If it was to be worth €1000 on the open market you will be lucky to clear 4-500 at an auction.

Yes it has Nct until Jan 17 and Taxed for another 2 months so should be an easy sell. I am not trying to use this forum to sell my car just to get info on the car auctions so I wont go into much more detail on car incase thread gets shut.

So far I've found Merlin & Wilsons in Dublin West/Naas

Are there any on the North side?

I think Wilsons is the biggest and probably easies place to sell it. Is it a high powered engine, in bits, bad colour like pink or what do you think is the reason it won't sell. What pricing are cars of the same year of this make and model going for?

There's a thread here on Boards where you can put a link to your for sale ad...

The engine is in the €500 p/a tax range. Other cars of same make/model with Valid Nct's are advertised between €1000 - 1500. Without NCT they go for €500 and downwards with a lot of people breaking them. I placed this one up at €1k for quick sale. I don't mind if price is haggled down.

There's an auction in Cavan but I would assume a Dublin auction house would gather me more money. I cant seem to see any on North side of Dublin. I assume that this is because most dealerships in Dublin are on the Naas road.

Can you post a link to your ad?

If you want to get fleeced but know by how much in advance, you could contact a cash-for-cars crowd.

Thanks, I set up this profile with the intention of keeping personal details out so adding a link to my adverts profile would be a poor start! ha. I'll give them a try this evening, I just got an offer which I've accepted so hopefully this will be the last meetup. ill post a photo of it going out the gate if sold

Hopefully it isn't just another messer!

Cut out the middle man and put it on Donedeal for €700 and see how it goes.
