Just wondering if anyone else who tends to buy a lot from china has noticed any significant delays of late (post chinese new year)

I also noticed anything I track from china seems to be routing through Athlone mail centre now, were previously everything went to Dublin mail centre. Surely it would make more sense leaving an item in Dublin thats being delivered to Dublin rather than sending it to westmeath then back up again?

Im wondering if this is where the delay may actually be coming from? Anyone else noticed similar?

Load appears to be spread around the mail centers.
An Post has four mails centres in Ireland, Athlone, Cork, Portlaoise and Dublin.
My packets often go Dublin - Portlaoise - Dublin as thats where the manpower is, seems counter intuitive but its the way they do it.

EMS Post/China Post is always a big gamble.

I've not noticed any delays, if anything they've been arriving slightly quicker.

Has always been four weeks for orders to arrive to me in Dublin with standard China Post shipping, lately I've been getting them in three.

An extra caused by the package going through a different sorting center isnt going to make a big difference to delivery times from china. the big problem seems to the black hole the parcels fall into between leaving china and arriving in ireland. they must be using a cessna to fly the parcels to ireland.

    You're assuming they're flying.

whether it is coming by boat or by rickshaw it is not the time spent in the hands of an post that is causing the delays.

with items routing to athlone it seems to be adding an extra day onto delivery once here on tracking, I was thinking maby a few days delay was happening between the items arriving into dub and transferring onto athlone as opposed to the dmc and then out for delivery but it may well just be the black hole of unknown theye enter once they depart China.
