Punchestown with a child?

    Hey everyone,
Just been offered two tickets (owners enclosure) for tomorrow at Punchestown. I've never been before but I was thinking of taking my 8yo daughter. Good idea or no? I'll also be driving, will I be stuck in gridlock all the way in or is it not too bad traffic wise?
Sorry for the amateur questions and thanks for any help.

You will be fine, traffic is ok. Plenty of parking. Just don't lose her in the crowds.
Seriously unless she gets bored you will be grand

No problem at all bringing a child. As far as I know, they usually have entertainers walking around, which should keep her occupied for a little while. I think they also have some kids' entertainment, too, but I'm not sure where it is during the festival.

What sort of stuff was there for kids Sham? Might book a day next year with the family.

Saturday is the big 'family day' and they've loads of activities for kids. I don't know what exactly is there (it doesn't apply to me so I never bothered to look into it any) but for the last 2 years it's been impossible to walk without encountering buggies/prams and little people running around. If you've a few kids, that might suit you better as it's specifically child friendly?

There was a massive fairground which would occupy any child for the day but we didn't even go on it. She just loved walking around, going down to the track for each race and grabbing bits and pieces of food over the course of the day (hotdog, mini donuts). Wasn't crazy prices or anything. Just what you'd expect at any event catering. Watched the ladies fashion show on stage for a bit, lol.
It's a lovely place and atmosphere so I'd highly recommend.

hey all, i got some family day tickets for tomorrow - fingers crossed the weather is decent. can i ask what the attire is for family day....would we be standing out if we didnt "dress-up"?

Definitely not. Smart casual is fine, but I'd always recommend dressing warmly over style, and Punchestoen always seems to feel that bit colder than anywhere else.
