Ho all, got a new patio laid last week, about 250 slabs were laid but i reckong around 20 of them have not set correctly and if i stand on the corner of them i can feel them lifting. What might have caused this? AIs it a bit job to replace? have plenty of slabs left over. Will have to get the guy that done it back out this week for a look.

That sounds like a job not done right. I have approx 200 square metres of sandstone laid 7 years ago. About 5 slabs have come loose in that time mainly due to me lifting the grout with a powerhose allowing water to accumulate, expand and contract which caused the slabs to loosen.

I can't understand how the majority of them are ok, but then approx 10 a rocking. Guy that done it is reliable. Slabs were laid on 808 and sand. Then mortar and grout swept into them. Can anyone shed a light on what might have caused this and also will it be a bit job for him to replace them, which he will have to do.

oh yeah no doubt he'll have to sort it, they don't rock when standing in the middle only on the sides. Very annoying after the money spent
