You could always check the esb meter should have a card with a date on it.

Hardly the most difficult question n the world, if you live there. And they only want the decade, not the exact year.

    Google the address.

Should be very easy if you live in an apartment as you'll find listings for other apartments in the building for rent, some of which will undoubtedly have the date the building was constructed.

Check the online planning register of your local city / county council. That should give you an approximate year.

Something I was wondering myself. I rent so being concerned about whether or not the house was built last week or 50 years ago is of little concern once it isn't a **** hole.

Find an old woman with a head scarf in your area. They'll tell you.

And they only require 'pre 1919' in that case.

Last year, the Tidy Towns people or the County Council gave my estate a little monetary present for looking all lovely and pretty. The money was used on a new name-thingy at the front of the estate. The Resident's Association included 'Established 1970' under the name, just on the off-chance that the question might arise in a census or something.

    What were they thinking?
