I know on Sky you can choose which games to watch on BBC interactive service, but is there anyway to choose which game to watch on a freesat box? I don't want plug in my Sky box my Xtrend is easier to use.

If it's a genuine FreeSat box you simply use the red button. However, for generic Free-To-Air boxes, the Red Button feed can be tuned in as a separate channel on 10773 H 22000 5/6 QPSK

    It's an Xtrend ET8000.

I have the Red Button tuned in, I just don't see the option for changing match.

From my limited knowledge of the snooker, if they are showing one table on BBC2 you might have the alternate on the red button.

If it's a Freesat box red button will work.

You are not using a Freesat receiver. That is why you get no options.

    Thats what I thought too.

Tune in any channels they are using for interactive, ie. give the red button stream a channel number on the EPG

BBC do cover 2 tables but only online except when there's live coverage on BBC2 when red button covers other table. I guess in ROI BBC's online coverage is not available so only one table. Here in NI I tend to watch Eurosport most of the time as I have it in HD and don't bother with online coverage.

    At about 1.00pm today

    BBC1 - WC Snooker - Extra
    BBC2 - WC Snooker
BBC RB1 - World Snooker Championship

What matches are on each channel I have no idea, just they are there for viewing, with BBC 1 & BBC 2 in HD. Dunno about HD on RB.

RB is unfortunately not in HD either on satellite or terrestrial. BTW BBC1 couldn't have had WC Snooker at 1.00pm today as the BBC News was on at that time.

Yes, for 4 minutes, according to my EPG ....... which is why I posted

Anyway to get the red button option when satellite dish is plugged directly into Sony smart tv? Thanks.

Assuming the red button itself doesn't work, will be a matter of searching through for what I believe is still called BBC RB 1.
(Have a Sony myself but no longer connected direct to dish, so working from memory)

Thanks, found that channel BBC RB1, 116 on my Sony. Scrolled through the other 1000 odd channels as well to see if anything else looked likely.

However when I checked the programme on BBC RB1 was different this morning to what was on SKY digibox red button, it was some Prince tribute whilst snooker was on digibox. Both same now @ 12:10, showing snooker.

So it seems my 2 year old Sony smart tv is not as smart as my 18 year old Sky digibox (the first of the digiboxes)... and I am not smart at all!

There is currently one Red Button Service labelled BBC RB1.

You can manually tune it on any satellite receiver

    DVB-S Freq 10773 Pol: H S/R: 22000

The BBC RB1 only shows some snooker, it is not a 100% snooker channel. It is in the epg information.
There is also a channel labelled 6391 on that frequency which I think is just a BBC1 variant.

    From 1 June 2016
The following Red Button information may be useful for the European Championships as the BBC will have a lot of New Red Buttons for the various matches. It wont be available until June 2016

    12.422 H DVB-S2 8PSK S/R 27500 FEC 2/3.

Channel Names Will be 6002,6003, 6004, 6005, 6006, 6011 which are the Red Button No's 2,3,4,5,6 and a HD Red Button Channel. The existing Red Button Service on 10773 will be Red Button 1.

Interesting that from c1.00pm today BBC Red Button left live snooker semi -final and showed folk music programme instead. I presume the latter has either been shown before on Red button or will be repeated at a later time/date. This meant that only way to watch the snooker live on BBC was either online or through connected TVs. You would have thought the BBC would have given snooker priority but there you go.

They did give it priority, it was on BBC 1 from 1pm.

But it was not live on BBC1 at 1.00pm - it was delayed coverage of semi-final that had already been covered live on RB. Those watching live on RB had to go online to continue watching the semi-final.

Discovered them Red Button stations last night, when going though my None Freesat stations. 5 or 6 in all, one of them HD, looking forward to them all appearing on the Freesat EPG in time for Wimbledon, The Euros, AND The Olympics.
