Paypal fraud

    Hi,

I recently tried buying a phone off someone on adverts via paypal, sent the money with an agreement that it would be sent by registered post and ASAP if possible.

The person then never bothered actually sending the/a phone, if there ever was a phone. I raised a dispute to get the phone back with the screenshots of comments where the person clearly stated he had sent it in the post Monday..

On the dispute he bare face lied claiming we'd met up in Co. Meath somewhere at 20:30 so no tracking number was needed.

Long story short, I've got my money back, and I've got details for him on facebook, now that I know who it is... is this a matter that could be taken further to the guards

I know it would be a lot of hassle on me, but It would be nice to know he didn't get off scot free...

You can report it to the Guards but they are unlikely to do anything. You got your cash back so there's no theft from you, Paypal won't report it.

Paypal do not accept "I handed it over" as evidence for delivery which bites sellers in the arse constantly but for once it does seem to have worked for the buyer.

Nothing whatsoever to do with gardai as its a civil dispute and you got your money back.

What's the issue? You've got your money returned, learn from it and move on.

All you can do really is leave bad feedback on adverts. You could probably report them to adverts too.
