Apart from the astra h models is there any other car using a warning light instead of a gauge?

    Thanks

Don't think the BMW e60 has a gauge or the 6 series

    Lots and lots of cars.

The gauges are mostly for visual effect and not really accurate anyway. A steady 90 celcius on the gauge can be anywhere between 70 and 100 in reality.

I think this is a myth to be honest.

My last ford focus had the thermostat broken, it was over cooling the engine and the tempature was rarely in the 90 of the guage. Was always around the quater mark,

but it would change depending how much pressure i put on the engine and would go down if the engine was under very little pressure like going down hills , would go up if driving up steep hills and would hit 90c if at it long enough but would never go over. Driving on motorways would put it up and down depending on speed etc.

The thing is , the thermostate is a regulater for engine coolant so the tempature is actually quite important,

My current car (saab) is doing something similar, thermo stuck open but again the guage works and is very nearly accurate i think.

The Yaris, it's blue when cold, goes out when engine warmed up, goes red when in danger zone.
