    Hello everybody!
I have a problem with carers allowanve application. I was recently awarded dca( sooo happy). Until now my carers allowance applicatiin was put on hold. I recently counted up and noticed that we are waaaay over€120-150), which means i will not get it. I didn't do my research right. To be clear they only minus prsi, but usc and paye us counted up?
I have enough stamps to go onto carers benefit though.
    What should I do?
Can i transfer or once i am not entitled to it do they automatically transfer or offer benefit?
Do i have to put new application? If so , could this be backdated?

Please help! I don't think I've ever been as confused in my life?

    Thank you

I thought you were entitled to carers allowance automatically when you got dca? My friend didn't have to fill out the form she just rang the carers dept and they put it through for her. Both her and her husband worked full time prior to getting this and she was convinced she was over the threshold but she got it anyway.

Oh, thanks very much for that. My worry was that they check what you earn and are suppose to be in around 670 mark. May I ask when did she get it? Was it recently?
    Thanks!

In the last month or so.....AFAIK theye told her to go for allowance over benefit as the benefit is only for 2 years

If your weekly income is in excess of 680 it doesn't mean you won't get Carers, it means you will get a reduced amount
Carers allowance is always means tested
If you have been awarded DCA already you don't have to complete the medical report but you still have to be means tested
Don't forget to apply for HBP when your Carers allowance comes through

    Not at all true unfortunately.

There is absolutely no way anybody was awarded Carers without completing the form.
Posting misinformation like this can be misleading and cause people to lose out on payment

Did you mean to quote my post or the one I was replying to?

If i got reduced amount let's say like €10 a week( which unfortunately is possible) could I switch to benefit? I don't think we could survive financially- on top of ds being autistic I found out few days ago that not only my second child is partially deaf and what we knew already- shows signs for ASD too. Every penny counts as all therapies are in €hundreds.
I hope this makes sense. I am looking for best way to fix problem - i am so angry with myself!!! All out of stupidity!

I was agreeing with you when you said that it is untrue that you can get CA automatically
    Sorry for any confusion

The only way you would be getting as little as €10 per week from Carers is if your husbands income was approaching €52000. You also need to apply for a medical card for your child.
The best thing to do is to apply for things and let due process take its course
Carers Benefit is for people who have been working but have stopped recently to take care of someone

I'm just telling the op my friends story.....she did not fill in the form, when she rang the carers helpline she spoke to a deciding officer I'm not going to post her name nor am I going to post details of why she needed the carers allowance but she 100% got approved for it that day.
I did not post any misinformation nor am I a liar, I just shared my friends experience with this in the hope it would help them.
I'm really sorry op if the circumstances are different for yourself and if my post didn't help but I did not deserve to be called a liar for trying to help someone.

I don't think the poster was calling you a liar but either your friend was confused or you picked her up wrong.
You can't possibly get carers allowance without filling in a form.

The important thing for Op to be aware of is there's no such thing as being entitled to it because she gets DCA. This isn't second hand information it's my experience and a fact.

You've misunderstood me and you misunderstood your friend. A deciding officer didn't award your friend Carers over the phone. That just didn't happen
    Nobody called you a liar
Your here with the best of intentions
It's important that people get the most appropriate information, that's all.
