Should I be getting notifications when people like my friendships?

    On Facebook, when someone likes or comments on my recent friendships I don't get any notification.
    The only time I see it is when it gets loads of likes and ends up in my newsfeed saying: "*my new friend* and *my name* are now friends."
    Is it normal not to receive these notifications?
    I'd like to receive these notifications, is there any way to change my settings so that I can know when someone likes my friendships?
