    Hi everyone

Over two years ago i started work as a test technican and about 6 months ago i was promoted to senior test technican in the same team and doing basically the same job.

I am now seeking an internal promotion and the transfer policy says you have to be in your current position for at least 12 months. I presume that doesnt mean that i have to be in the senior role for 12 months ? i presume i meet this criteria as i am in the same team for over 2 years ?

any ideas how this statement is usually understood ?

I would interpret it as relating to your senior role only so you don't qualify
    Ask your manager

I would also interpret it as being senior for 12 months.

Except: If the senior designation simply refers to your tenure and comes with no additional responsibilities, then you coudl argue that you meet the requirements.

I will not hurt to ask and put your best foot forward, leave the decision to HR.

    It's just a policy

If they want you for the job, they will find a way to work things out.

If they don't, they would won't.

Apply for the job on you merits not your length of service.

thanks. Duties haven't changed at all since promotion. Job is still the same and the doc states that the time in service relates to the amount of time needed to get up to speed and contribute etc - so this is not relevant for me as i was contributing to the same level already.

found out since that others moved from my team after changing titles without having the tenure done so should be fine.

    thanks
