Commercial drone usage

I'm interested in going about getting registered and insured and the whole shebag for whatever's necessary for using a drone for commercial aerial photo/video-ography.

From what I can tell I need to get an "Aerial Work permission" from the IAA and public liability insurance.

Does anyone have any info and/or advice on how much getting this permission from the IAA costs, and also good companies for getting insured. Also, some insurance companies seem to require X hours training before even giving a quote. I don't have any certified training, and if there are any companies that don't require training, I would prefer to not have to do any (simply because of cost).

The drone itself is already registered with the IAA.

    Thanks in advance.

It depends on where you want to fly and what you want to fly. If it is rural landscapes and videography then you are already good to go since the changes in December. If you want to fly in built up areas of have a drone over 4kg, you are looking at around 2.5k all in for training, exams, fees and insurance.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not entirely sure at the moment about the "where" question. What exactly is considered a "built up area"?

I've only got a DJI Phantom 3 so weight isn't an issue.

Do you know how much training is required?
