    HI
I'm looking for recommendations for a bone setter for my dog. She's a springer spaniel only 3.5yrs old. We brought her to vet who said she's an old fracture on her leg/hind area that is not suitable for surgery in his opinion. He recommended putting her on anti inflammatory medicine for life and glucosamine ...we have been doing it for past month but if anything she's getting worse. She loves to be active and keeps hurting herself.
Someone suggested a bone setter cld help reset her. She's so much more life in her its heartbreaking to see her in pain at such a young age.
can't find any bone setters, heard of a guy in carlow but hear he may not still do it.
If possible to share or pm me any you may know of, much appreciated.
    Woof woof!

Ask your vet for a referral to an orthopaedic specialist. See what they say. Do you have pet insurance?

True, didn't know such a thing.
we don't have pet insurance, didn't think we'd need it till she was older :-(
Although....the vet we went to was in newry...but we live in dublin so I wonder if we took out insurance now wld it be recognised as a 'new health issue' and be covered in the south....

Anything that exists before the dog is insured is pre-existing. If the issue is a fracture that wasn't treated at the time the dog would have to have been insured before the fracture happened.

The UCD animal hospital might be able to give you some advice?
Im sure there are lots of people on here who can recommend a ortho specialist in your area
    Good luck

I just looked up what a bone setter is and the outcome is that this forum is not going to condone or facilitate the use of unlicensed quacks for serious veterinary issues.
