Moving on to Part time benefit

    Hi,

I recently started part time work and have filled out all the required documentation. I've sent in bank statements for the means test and also had my employer fill out their section.

That was 6 weeks ago and I went in today to find out when it might be processed and they said it may be another 2-6 weeks before a decision is made re my case.

The thing is I work 1-2 days a week. No more thank 16 hours a week (usually 8) and earn between €100-€200 a week for that work. My statements prove I don't have any money in my a/c.

I'm just unsure as to why it's taking so long to process a claim. I'm struggling financially atm as the past few weeks I've only been working the one day a week.

Any know how the system works and why it might be taking this long? Surely it's simply a case of looking at my paperwork and processing?

You could apply for supplementary welfare allowance while you are waiting for a decision on your claim. 6 weeks does seem a long time considering the number on the live register has dropped considerably. Of course it would still depend on staffing levels in the office.
