Diagnostics for a 97 Ford Transit?

I am the owner of a 97 Ford Transit Ambulance that has been converted into a camper. The ABS light comes on, even after a manual reset (found some useful tips here and on youtube... thanks).

Our main Ford dealer say their diagnostics machines will not diagnose such an old vehicle and would therefore be taking out the repair work somewhat blind to the root cause. This sounds the costly route considering the worth of vehicle.

Does anyone know of a garage with diagnostic equipment who might be able to help us with diagnosing this issue?? The vehicle is located in the Carlow/KK region, but am willing to travel if this is the only option.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think those transits are OBD compliant so if there are any diagnostics possibilities - it will only be Ford themselves who can do it.

I think you should bring it to an experienced old mechanic who is familiar with diagnosing cars using old methods :pac:

Not sure where you're based but there's a transit specialist in Lusk north co Dublin.

You could also scope the wheel speed sensors I suppose. A lot of ABS issues are related to sensors or rings.

Simplistic they may be but your post suggested to me at least, that nothing goes wrong with them. Plenty goes wrong with them.
