How is no goal no fee litigation different from champerty?

I imagine it's because the solicitor isn't providing cash to the client, just a contingent liability based on the success of the case.

There was discussion about this a few years ago. It would take a pretty lazy legal mind to assess that the rule against champerty and maintenance inhibits the practice of no foal no fee-based litigation.

However, from an even lazier legal mind, I don't want to get into the detail of my reasoning at such a late hour after a long day. :pac:
