Engineering Timetable Question

    Hi

I was looking at timetables for the school of engineering and spotted 2 evening lecture thingies. This timetable is from second year mechanical and biomedical engineering from 2014 or 2015 I think (not able to post a link due to the new account, they're on the website if you google "Engineering NUIG timetables)

I am wondering if these lectures are compulsory to attend or if these classes even exist on a more up to date timetable? I'm am wondering because due to an accommodation arrangement I will have it would be handy if I didn't have evening lectures (like after 6pm).

I would be very grateful if anyone could advise me on whether there are still any late lectures on the engineering timetable. Thanks

Are you a current Engineering student or thinking of doing Engineering?

Engineering students do labs in the evening, not all you have to attend. Generally classes are divided up and you may be able to pick different streams. Timetables also change year on year depending on the course, room bookings etc.

You need to attend labs and tutorials, they're essential and more relaxed to lecturers.

I would not pick a course or a college on its timetable. Look at the modules, what it offers etc.

I'm thinking of doing engineering. It's just that I'd like to be able to attend societies like GUMS and the like and also be able to go home an odd evening. It's just many of these societies run their meetings during the evenings, at the same time as labs.

Or is it a case where engineering students don't have time for societies etc.?

I was also considering science but the first year is spent doing biology chemistry and Physics, all of which I'm doing for the leaving anyway and I've heard engineering students have better job prospects (I may be wrong), which is why I'm leaning towards engineering.

Most don't bother going home in the evening :D

As for evening time, its a full time course and the timetable hasn't been set. Don't forget every course has CA, especially Engineering or Science, which involves labs etc. If you manage your time well, it shouldn't be a problem.

I know a lot of Engineers involves in Clubs / Socs. And they find time for it. Again timetables change year on year so ignore the current ones
