Would anyone know the answer to this

New house where there has never been a phone line.

What to get sky q with sky but you have to have your broadband with them for that

Sky say I need to get eircom to put in a phone line for me. Eircom saying I'm stuck with them for 18 month contract if I request a line with them.

I'm wondering if I order phone line from eircom but cancel within my 2 week cooling off period, am I then free to get whatever provider I want or will eircom have some sort of hold on the line and not reactivate again unless I go back to them

    Many thanks

Call sky again, their new policy is if you order TV they'll fit a new line as part of the bundle. Chances are the CSR you spoke to wasnt aware.

Thanks for you reply. Oh that's interesting. Even if we are out in the country and we might require a new poles to be installed ??

Rules are the same, if it costs openEir less than €7000 to connect you any retail provider can order it (they pay €150 ish) on your behalf.

Wow that's great info. Thank you. I suppose I just hope I'll get someone better informed on the phone the next time I ring them

Sky Q will now actually work with any broadband provider.

Just went through this there myself. you can get eircom to install the line and cancel within the 14 days from when the line goes live. FREE OF CHARGE

Make sure you ring, explain, confirm and take names of staff that say you can do this in case they try argue this when you go to cancel, or record the call yourself.

I had to get a new pole and new line into the house, eircom will contract KN to come out inspect the location, then eircom will come out put a new pole in(you will need to run ducting up to the pole from the house yourself), then KN come back out again throw the line over to your pole and install it into your house. once that's active and broadband is activated you cancel your contract within the 14 days of activation of line. No charge and you go to a provider that doesn't hire dribbling idiots for a living to annoy you.

Beware doing this the will PI$$ you the Fuc4 off.
I never dealt with a company that bad, get prepared to being transferred 5-8 times each call and providing your information and story to the dribbling idiots over and over till you find one that can help you, demanding a manager on 3rd transfer works fairly well too but they even manage to make a balls of that too

    Have fun :)

Many thanks for that great reply

Just out of curiosity, have you managed to get reconnected with another provider. If so eircom had no problem releasing to line to another provider.

I'd be afraid they would put some penalty fee on it or something.
