Just seen on Sky News that comedian Victoria Wood has passed away at 62.
Have absolutely loved her in so many tv shows and stand-up acts down through the years.
    Brilliant stand-up, actress and writer.
    Will really miss her
    RIP.

    Millions begged to differ.

It was broad comedy with a hint of subversiveness about it. Add in her musical chops & it was well suited to the style of variety entertainment audiences were fond of at the time.

    O RLY?
In my day we didn't have sex education, we just picked up what we could off the television.

My boyfriend had a sex manual but he was dyslexic. I was lying there and he was looking for my vinegar.

Well, I think there's not much of a chance for me finding somebody of my age. Gentlemen of my age are dropping down 30 years to find girlfriends.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

One of the finest comedians and writers the poster you replied to will ever witness.
A true talent gone way too young

mod: it's a thread about someone recently passed away - nobody is forcing you to post. So don't bother posting if you're just trolling.

The ballad of Barry and Freda (lets do it) is my favourite memory from her . So talented Pure class.

I heard about it on ITV News this evening. For her to die with Cancer at young age; it was heartbreaking to hear it about tonight.

I remember for her great role in Dinnerladies on the BBC. She was a wonderful talent in that show.

    RIP. :(

I was really shocked to hear it, and saddened. She was incredibly likeable, an intelligent, down to earth and naturally funny woman. And she controlled her career in a way that was quite unusual for a woman at that time.

Acorn Antiques was brilliant, and I loved Dinnerladies as well.

Heartbroken. She was one of my hero's growing up. They broke the mould with Victoria :(

A lot of middle aged women and up loved her I would say.
She cornered the market on that sector.

Doris Roberts from Remington Steele and Everybody Loves Raymond died this week too.

I think the best of Victoria Wood was whenever she themed up with Julie Walters.

I caught Dinnerladies on Gold a few weeks ago and ended up watching the series everyday. It was so funny and heartfelt at the same time. Was gutted when I saw the news today.

Here she is with Rik Mayall in 1982...

So sad that they're both gone.
