    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had a good/bad experience with marriage or relationship counselling with <mod snip> or would recommend another? Myself and my partner have run into some problems in our relationship (mostly communication) and I think counselling may be a good idea. I would be grateful to know your experiences and if it worked for you.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi OP - I have removed specific references by you to a group - per our charter we cannot give references or referrals on organisations or groups. Doubtless someone will mention them here which is fine but to keep this thread open I have snipped them there to make your post more about relationship counselling as opposed to how is X service?

    Thank you, didn't realise!

Hi Op, myself and my husband had an initial terrible experience with marriage counselling....but we were warned from the beginning that the particular place we went to had a religious ethos but it was free and we couldn't afford private.

We subsequently went private and, while it was uncomfortable at the beginning, did help.

So I suppose the advice I'm giving is don't just go with the first one you come to...shop around. It can help.....

But both of you must want to do it.....

    Best of luck Op

Thanks! And I'm glad it worked out for you! It's just something we have to try I think, he struggles with opening up so I'm hoping this will help. Thank you!
