PAS 24 Standard for Windows / Doors - do most suppliers meet this standard?

    Hi All

Information on home security from the Gardai states that :

"If replacing doors and windows look for the Standard PAS 24 or equivalent"

Can anybody shed light on whether or not your typical fitter in Ireland generally supplies doors and windows to this standard?

Also, the Garda website states that steel framed doors are recommended to be installed for optimum security. From my brief research, it appears that very few suppliers use steel framed doors. In fact I could only find one fitter of such doors in Ireland!

    Any thoughts?

Pas 24 , is a British accredited standard so I doubt if many Irish manufacturer's are accredited.

    a good explanation here

and many irish suppliers ARE accrediated such as senator, munster joinery, dalgan, rationel and more

its really the mechanical locking mechanism that is pertinent.

I've seen it on a few brochures here in Dublin. Most recently from a small glass shop in Finglas village that supplies <insert company name here>.

I won't name them on the forum but if you want their details I can PM them to you.
